Ability Apartments are designed to achieve Liveable Housing Australia’s Platinum design certification. The apartments feature smart home technology, completely accessible bedrooms and balconies, open plan living rooms, and customisable kitchens and bathrooms. Overnight onsite support is a key feature of Ability Apartments, allowing residents to maximise their independence, lifestyle and privacy. Apartments can be fully automated as needed, including an emergency communication system that tenants can use to contact support staff.

What to expect from an ability apartment
Ability Apartments are designed to accommodate people with disabilities who are approved for SDA. Our locations have been thoughtfully chosen to ensure that our residents have the opportunity to enjoy a sense of connection to the local community. In all instances, everything you need to make life more simple is within easy access to your doorstep, including nearby train stations, local cafes, medical services and excellent shopping districts. Our apartments have been custom-designed and meticulously built to platinum SDA standards to accomodate Assistive Technologies and supportive infrastructure like ceiling hoists and accessible bathroom facilities. In each of our buildings, a dedicated apartment has been allocated to the resident care team who are on hand to provide 24/7 shared support. Participants always retain their choice and control.
You will enjoy integrated Assistive Technology at key touch points throughout the building and discover the freedom of accessible, design innovation in every room of your private, resort-style apartment. Ability Apartments are designed not only to make independent living feasible, but to set a new standard in accessible accommodation for people with disabilities.

onsite overnight support
Support staff are onsite in their own dedicated apartment 24 hours a day to assist tenants whenever needed. They are contactable via device, personal fob pendant, wall buttons or voice automation.
Home Automation
Smart Home Technology enables tenants to maximise their independence and privacy. Personal devices can be programmed to control lights, blinds, windows, doors, air conditioning, and intercoms.
A two way speaker/microphone system is mounted in the ceiling allowing for voice activated communication between tenants and support staff, while motion and heat sensors can be programmed to alert support staff.
All apartments are equipped with emergency power backup.
